Thanks to a generous donation from Wells Fargo Bank we are offering several paid registrations of $475 to the NAWBO National Convention being held in Phoenix, Arizona on June 12-14.  The Conference will be held at the Arizona Beltmore Resort & Spa.  The rate for the hotel is $169 per night plus tax.

Selection criteria

Nominee must:

• Be at least 18 years of age
• Own at least 51% of the business
• Own the business for at least 1 year
• Be the active principal of the business
• Be a legal resident of the US or its territories
• Be in compliance with all applicable laws and regulations

Submission guidelines:

• Complete and sign the Scholarship Application Form
• Submit a brief biography (limit to one to two paragraphs)
• ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE RECEIVED BY 5/8/08

Award review committee:

• Applications are reviewed by a committee comprised of NAWBO Sacramento Valley members and are the property of NAWBO Sacramento Valley
• AWARDEES WILL BE CONTACTED BY 5/10/08 

Evaluation criteria:

Responses to the following questions must be completed for applicant to be considered for the award.  Please limit your response to two (2) pages.  Complete all of the questions below, attach them to the Scholarship Application Form, and return to Colleen Wong. 

1. Describe your company and its products and services
2. What is your basic philosophy in conducting your business? Include your mission statement, if available.
3. Why did you start your company? What obstacles did you have to overcome in general? What obstacles did you have overcome as a woman business owner?
4. What sets your company’s products or services apart from others? How do you think this in violation will impact your business and market in the future?
5. How would you consider yourself a role model as a woman business owner in your industry? You may include the benefits your company provides to your community; employees, or family.
6. Why should you be selected to receive the NAWBO scholarship?
