Widely recognized as one of Sacramento’s most effective lobbyists, Ms. Griffin has over seventeen years of experience in private sector lobbying, following fourteen years at the top levels of state government. Her strong policy and fiscal backgrounds, along with her broad based access to key decision-makers and tireless style, have served her clients well.
Ms. Griffin began her career in government with the California Senate in 1972, serving as staff to a Caucus and personal staff to a State Senator. In 1975, she accepted a position in the Administration serving in various management positions. During her tenure at the Department of Health Services, Ms. Griffin served as Deputy Director of Legislative and External Affairs and was the chief negotiator for major health care issues.
In 1990, Ms. Griffin left state government to accept a position as a lobbyist for the California Medical Association, before establishing her own contract lobbying firm, Griffin & Associates, in 1992.
Ms. Griffin enjoys unique policy and fiscal expertise in heath, welfare, finance, environment, juvenile justice and local government. She is a well respected advocate in both the legislative and regulatory arenas. Her expertise and experience provides a strong voice for the diverse and extensive array of clients she has represented. Among them are individual companies, hospitals, clinics, corporations and associations. In addition, Ms. Griffin consults with various law firms to resolve their client issues with administrative agencies.
Ms. Griffin received her BA Degree in Government/Economics from California State University, Sacramento. The mother of seven children, she is on the Boards of the Institute for Governmental Advocacy, the National Association of Women Business Owners-CA (NAWBO-CA) and was recently appointed to the National Advisory Board for the SBA Small Business Development Centers. Ms. Griffin is the President of the Sacramento Valley NAWBO Chapter and a Founding Member of Women Impacting Public Policy (WIPP), a national advocacy organization. She also serves on the Health and Small Business Advisory Committees of the Sacramento Metro Chamber and has been a long time member of the California Chamber of Commerce.
