CALL TO ACTION — Accepting Nominations
April 23, 2009 12:36 pm. Filed under: News & Updates.Voted Positions: President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer
As the Immediate Past-President of our Chapter, it is my duty and pleasure to manage the elections of the 2009-2010 Chapter Officers. Nominating our Chapter Officers is a critical task that will assist us in continuing to grow our Chapter and build on the relationships we have developed to move us forward.
Pursuant to our by-laws, our elected Chapter Officers include a President, President-Elect, Secretary and Treasurer. This slate of officers is very important to continuing the momentum our Chapter has built over the past couple of years. Serving in a leadership position is a very rewarding experience. We need to continue to have very strong leaders to assist the Chapter in continuing our successful endeavors.
The current President-Elect, Karen Arnold, automatically fills the role of President in the new 2009-2010 term of office, ensuring a smooth transition. The current positions to be filled include the President-Elect (this is the person who will become the President in the following year 2010-2011). The positions of Secretary and Treasurer are also elected positions with a two-year limit on these two positions.
As business owners, it is important that we constantly sharpen our business and leadership skills, as well as broaden our network of business contacts. Please take time to consider nominating yourself or another member of the Chapter for these open officer positions.
The President-Elect position is a very critical position to ensure the leadership continuity of our Chapter. Please consider nominating a person you believe has the talent, skills, vision and understanding of the NAWBO mission to lead this Chapter during the 2010-2011 fiscal year.
The Secretary and Treasurer positions both will be vacant. Again, please consider nominating yourself or another member for one of these two critical positions for our Chapter. The Secretary takes the minutes of the board meetings, primarily focusing on the actions taken. The Treasurer is our finance entity. This position works with our Chapter Administrator to ensure that we keep appropriate financials.
We are very appreciative of the various members who have volunteered to serve as Committee Chairs. These committees have undertaken a number of tasks for the Board which helped us with the number of successes we achieved this year. Our annual signature event, the Outstanding Women Leaders (OWL) Award at the Hyatt Regency in October was certainly a success. Also the 2009 Entrepreneur’s Edge Seminar, our educational program attracted over 65 attendees in February at the IKEA venue – again a major success.
Thank you for taking the time to consider nominees for these important positions. The ballot form below must be used to nominate a candidate. Your ballot must be e-mailed to admin@nawbo-sac.org by May 11, 2009:
