2012 Philanthropy Partner

Every year, NAWBO Sacramento selects a local philanthropic organization to partner with to find new ways to give back to women of our community. This past year, we decided to combine the partner selection process with our Outstanding Women Leaders awards. For 2012 and ongoing, we have decided to make the Vision award recipient organization our Philanthropic Partner for the following year.
This year, the OWL award for Vision was awarded to a long-standing support organization, Soroptimist International of Sacramento (S.I.S.). S.I.S. is very active in raising funds for and providing services to activities and organizations which assist “at-risk” women and children in our community and world-wide. Soroptimist’s major programs include The Women’s Opportunity Awards program (assisting women who provide the primary source of income for their families by giving them the resources they need to improve their education, skills, and employment opportunities); the Guardian Scholars Program (mentoring Foster Youth at college and high schools to provide a successful college experience); and “Money Matters – making your money go further and last longer”(helping young women who are getting back into the work force). In addition, among other things, S.I.S. provides over $8,000 in scholarships and awards to deserving underserved young women.

Donation of Silent auction items to be auctioned at crab feed on Feb. 25, 2012. Crab Fiesta Auction donation letter attached . Good way for members to advertise their business
Purchase of tickets to Crab Fiesta on Feb. 25, 2012. I will have tickets with me at your meeting on December 15, 2011. $45.00 each, Special attention, wine provided, sponsored tables seating 10 are $600 each. See www.crabfiestasac.org.
Personal Toiletry items to be provided to St. John’s Shelter. (soap, shampoo, tooth paste & brushes, deodorant etc.)
